Hazel Bennett

BIOGRAPHY

BIOGRAPHY:    

Hazel has been a teacher in London schools continuously for 35 years. She has taught mostly in primary schools with some secondary and special school teaching. Hazel has worked in inner city, fresh start and leafy suburban schools.

She has had posts of responsibility for children with special needs, English as an additional language, religious education, maths and history. She has also been a supply teacher and a peripatetic teacher. Hazel has combined full-time teaching with post-graduate study and bringing up her family.

Hazel has been consulted as an educational expert for the Teachers TV series ‘They didn’t teach me that’, and written ‘The Ultimate Teachers’ Handbook’ and ‘The Trainee Teacher’s Survival Guide’, both published by Continuum International.

She has written ‘Class Assemblies for Primary Schools’ a book of assembly scripts for Key Stage 2 children to perform, and ‘Playscripts for Britain in the 40s’ for children to read in class while studying the World War II and beyond. Both are published by Educational Printing Services.

Currently Hazel answers the questions on the ASK HAZEL page of ‘Teach Primary’ and writes features for a range of educational journals — ‘New2Teaching’, ‘Report’, ‘Teaching and Learning’, ’Times Educational Supplement’ and ‘Learning Support’.
